Orange Wine in Wine Glass

Murrindindi region

The Murrindindi region provides truly cool climate viticulture. The elevation brings with it, delayed budburst in spring and cooler nights during the hotter summer months. Rainfall during the growing season is low, but a welcoming high sunshine index favours the ripening of many early-mid-ripening grape varieties.

The landscape, rich in natural beauty of lakes, rivers and mountains offers diverse microclimates spanning from Glenburn to Yea and Buxton, Taggerty to Lake Eildon. Murrindindi is ideally located for the production of elegant textural red wines with predominantly French grape varieties currently grown in the region. Racy aromatic whites and fine sparkling wines are also being produced and enjoyed by many wine lovers.

There are some fantastic wineries located close to our Park here in Marysville. We have selected the most popular below and are well worth a visit. Please soak with our office if you are interested in an individual or a group wine tasting experience, or contact the wineries directly.

Sedona Estate

Sedona Estate’s humble beginnings, Paul & Sonja’s vision has been to produce fine cool-climate wines that are regionally distinctive and unique in style. After a long search for the perfect vineyard site, the foundation was laid with the purchase of their 52 acre property in Murrindindi with its undulating hills and dales.

Eighteen years later, the annual wine production is 3,500 cases with French varietals dominating the wine portfolio. Paul’s formidable palate coupled with his zeal for perfection deliver fine, hand-crafted wines of distinction. His skills have not gone unnoticed by Australia’s leading wine critic; as a newcomer to the industry, Sedona Estate made it into Halliday’s top ten best new wineries in 2007 and has received Halliday’s prestigious top 5 star rating three times.

All grapes are grown on the property and carefully tended by Adrian and Robert Utter, a son and father team who perform every aspect of the production of their wines.

Sustainable practices and minimal intervention is practised to the extent possible. Little Cathedral

Little Cathedral is a cool climate vineyard planted at 280 metres above sea level on brown clay-loam on a gentle north facing slope. When irrigation is required water is drawn from the pristine Little River, a clear mountain stream that originates deep within the forest behind the vineyard.

The 10 acre vineyard is planted exclusively to Pinot Noir (MV6) and since taking it over in 2006 we have embraced the challenge of understanding the unique character & growing habits of our vines in order to produce premium quality grapes. And the fruit gives us the starting point for some truly wonderful wines, including Pinot Rose and Pinot Noir table wines, as well as a Sparkling Blanc de Noir.
